This quality vintage student violin is all set up and ready to pick up and play. Without a label I would guess it is a French violin and dated to 1920?s The Spruce table and book matched Maple back and Ribs along with good inlayed Tramline Purfling on table and back demonstrates a quality, well made instrument. There is a embossed Patent Number on the back but I am unable to identify the relevance of the number. You may have better luck!
New quality strings have been fitted. You will appreciate strings are very much a personal choice, these are professional quality series but a string like Dominant would bring the very best out of the instrument. I will fit your choice of strings at their cost.
This Violin typically will suit a player who has previously gained a few grades and wants a better quality instrument to progress their gradings, or, a returner to playing and wants a better instrument to creat a better sound.
It is in an excellent condition and has been fully inspected ready for immediate use. No splits, cracks, loose joints. The sound post is correctly set and firm. The bridge is fitted and set in position too. The base bar is also firm and sound. The pegs are well fitted and holds tuning pitch well.
This instrument produces a nice clean tone and has a lasting ring. Clearly a well played violin and well loved
The bow has a new hair fitted is probably the same age and while totally functional and tensions well and straight. As with all new hairs It has received an initial coating rosin will require a further good coating rosin included.
The hard wooden case is not the original it is a John Murdock Maidstone case and has recently received a cosmetic face lift and partially re-lined. It is totally functional and secure, and the violin fits well. Additional catches are fitted. All catches are all functional and hold good.
