Description
This is an antique (Victorian) iron back, deep buttoned chair. Reminiscing of a by-gone era, but with a modern fabric to make it a very use-able chair in any style of interior.
This chair has been completely re-upholstered from the frame up, using only traditional upholstery methods. All the hessian, calico and fabric had to be hand stitched to the iron frame to secure it. The seat has new springs, and has been built up using layers of upholstery hair, hand stitched hessian, calico and felt wadding. The back and arms also have upholstery hair, hand stitched hessian and felt wadding. The back and arms have been deep buttoned.
The top fabric is a Abraham Moon wool fabric- very soft, hard wearing and naturally fire retardant. I used a cyan/ charcoal patterned wool for the inside back, arms and seat; and a plain charcoal wool for the back and outside arms. There is piping round the back of the chair and front of the seat to give it a nice finish.
This is a quality antique chair, re-upholstered to a high standard. Please contact me if you wish to know more about the process of upholstering this chair, you will be amazed of the work that has gone into it!
