Wage: £19,136 pro rata

To ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day activities, providing necessary support for the team and board to deliver maximum benefit to the community in line with the company strategy.
Introduction:
Coexist CIC is a social enterprise based on a philosophy of active and open-hearted engagement, setup in 2008 to manage the once derelict office building Hamilton House on Stokes Croft. We empower members of the community to lead its development, believing the successful and much needed regeneration of our community is sustainable only if the growth is organic and from the bottom up!
The role has been developed over 6 years. Previously fulfilled by one person, it has gained huge trust with Coexist team and partners, which operate as a close-nit family. The ability to develop these relationships is key to the role. The next person will be able to build on this work supporting the organisation to scale its activities on a triple bottom line. The role has the potential to grow into a director position if deemed right for person and for Coexist.
This is an ambitious role, which requires relevant depth of experience, inspired leadership and a collaborative working style to thrive. The role requires someone who feels inspired to be part of an organisation that is constantly evolving its governance to pioneer new ways of being in response to a changing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Vision
• Work with Finance and People Development roles to implement a coherent company strategy to achieve growth
• Coordinate and implement the development of new and innovative business propositions
• Work with Community Engagement to build local networks to inform business development
• Work closely with key partners to help us reach our mutual goals, key partners include; DMAC UK, CoResist, Canteen, C&C & Bristol Bike Project
• Report to the board any matters of operational or legal importance
Operational
• With People Development & Finance, support and oversee the day to day operations of Coexist, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the core purpose and vision of the Coexist project
• Improve the accessibility of Hamilton House and broaden its user base
• With People Development, hold the yearly timetable of activities including maintenance renewals, reviews, partnership meetings and Coexist events
• Line manage and provide specific support to marketing, events and kitchen teams
• Promote strong coordination and communication across the team
• Support the marketing department to implement a strategy that supports business growth
• Work directly with all teams (with support of the finance team) to support the on-going development of business strategy at a team level, to meet Coexist’s core purpose and vision as well as financial expectations
• Work with the finance team to ensure that financial targets are met within departments, supporting all teams to operate within agreed budgets and achieve agreed targets for income and spending
Resources and Efficiency
• Support the board to make informed decisions about the distribution of resources to yield greatest benefit to the community, employees and the organisation
• Oversee all aspects of facilities management including; taking full responsibility for all aspects of health and safety, fire safety, security, maintenance, cleaning, testing and inspection. Ensuring the safe and legally compliant operation of the business at all times. Managing repairs and maintenance to ensure a pleasant and functional building environment for all users
• Ensure that the equipment used by Coexist is adequate for the task. This includes purchasing, inspection, maintenance and repair
• Implement an energy and sustainability strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of the organisation, enhance financial sustainability and be an exemplar of sustainable practice within the South West
• Develop a sourcing policy to ensure that Coexist is choosing sustainable products that are fit for purpose and represent good value

• Confident with financial data analysis and budget planning

• Project management skills
• Management of health and safety in a large building or comparable project
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent time-management and prioritisation abilities
• Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Able to drive and cope in environments of 'change'
• Experience of line management / staff supervision
• Ability to critically reflect on practice and take in wide ranging perspectives to find the most powerful solutions
Desirable:
• Experience of facilities management, managing building contractors, price negotiations, energy efficiency measures
• Experience working in business, operations or development within a social enterprise or charitable organisation
