For sale is an incredibly sturdy, spacious, well-made, insulated rabbit hutch.
After out old shop-bought hutch was ripped to pieces by a dog (luckily our rabbit out smarted the dog and got away) we designed and built this hutch ourselves to be dog proof. It was only lived in for 6 months, so is still in excellent condition.
Features:
• Sloped roof so rainwater runs off
• Double skin walls with insulation
• Separate bedroom compartment for somewhere safe and cosy to go
• Shelf for an elevated look out post!
• Hay rack – easily removed and refilled
• Secure bolts on all doors and gravity catches for extra security (we put these on so small children couldn’t easily open the doors but it’s also handy in case you accidentally forget to slide the bolt)
• Perspex storm windows – the weather last winter prompted us to make Perspex windows that can be clipped over the mesh openings during bad weather keeping bunny rain and draft free. Bunny can still see out and a gap at the bottom provides a bit of ventilation. When not in use the Perspex panels slot underneath the hutch where they are safe and out of the way.
• All of the chewable pieces of wood are easily removable, and the floor can be removed and replaced in the future if necessary
The hutch is raised off the ground which makes it easier to get bunny in and out and also gives the potential to create an outdoor area downstairs. There is an opening in the hutch floor (currently blocked up) which a ramp could be attached to. All you would need to do is attach wire mesh around the bottom of the hutch and it would become a two level hutch with fresh air and more room for hopping around.
Dimensions:
It is a large hutch so would need to be collected in a van or large trailer.
The hutch will also come with a few toys, wooden tunnel and bottles if necessary. We also have a run which you can have for free with the hutch if you would like it.
