Description
Attractive antique Edwardian inlaid mahogany dressing table.
A lovely Edwardian mahogany dressing table. We date this dressing table to the early 20th century.
The dressing table sits on four downward tapered, square section legs above brass castors.
The table is fitted with an elegant oval wood framed front to back swivelling mirror. The mirror glass is thick and bevelled and is showing some signs of foxing.
The mirror is side supported on two slender upward tapered square section supports with brass finials which sit on top, and there is a small gallery running the length just below the mirror, which is flanked either side by a small glove drawer. The drawer fronts feature bands of decorative inlaid detail and are fitted with attractive brass drop handles mounted on circular embossed brass backplates.
The main chest comprises of two short drawers over two long drawers. These drawers feature matching inlay and handles to the glove drawers.
The top surface features a thick protective glass panel, which extends back to the front of the glove drawers.
The dressing table has a height of 60.5" (154cm) (including mirror) with a table height of 32" (82cm), a width of 42.5" (108cm) and a depth of 20" (51cm).
This lovely Edwardian inlaid mahogany dressing chest remains in very good solid condition with only minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There are some minor marks to the veneer on the top surface underneath the glass, and some minor wear to the top surfaces of the glove drawers.
This remains a very stylish and elegant Edwardian mahogany dressing table. It will continue to provide good service for many years to come.
